I can still hear the whirl of the siren from the police escort and Berle Ives singing thru the speakers on top of the truck pulling all the Christmas cheer along.
There was a man in Gloster way before my time that built a sleigh. It sits on a trialor platform and the sleigh is painted red, with christmas lights surrounding the frame and a gold Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. And of Course SANTA himself. They went and still do to this day , go to every house and pass out candy canes. What a great time to be growing up that time of year in a small town of 1,300 people. I remember we would walk across the yard and mom and dad would take pictures. Later in the evening we would go to Carolyn and Bob Dalphries home for their Christmas party. Mr. Bob, Papa Jay (Mr. Jess/ J.L.) even went out in the bushes in front of the Dalphries house with a flashlight with a red bulb in it saying Ol' Rudolph was in the bushes!
I remember my mom and dad would walk across the yard to my great grandma's house ( Ms Rebecca) and take the jingle bells strap from here door and go outside mine and Casey's window and ring them and I would hear HO! HO! HO! late at night. I mean, we were (and I still am with the kid inside me ) a believer!
